Garama Cave stretches 342 meters beneath a plateau on the northern edge of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, just 3 km from Ntebeko. Though now surrounded by former farmland, it once lay deep in forest cover. The Batwa, known for their forest-dwelling traditions and warrior legacy, used the cave as a council chamber, a refuge after raids, and a spiritual retreat. It was a place of strategy, ceremony, and survival.
Today, the cave is part of the Batwa Trail experience, where visitors witness music, dance, and storytelling performed by Batwa guides. It’s not just tourism—it’s cultural reclamation and economic empowerment for a displaced people
