Day 1: Explore Mabere Ganyina Mwiru & Crater Lakes

We shall transfer from Hoima or Kampala to Fort portal tourism city with the possibility of doing Mabere ganyina mwiru and crater lakes

Amabere Caves (Mabere Ganyina Mwiru) are steeped in legend—said to be the “breasts of Nyinamwiru,” a princess from the Bachwezi dynasty. A guided walk through the caves reveals stunning stalactites, waterfalls, and rich storytelling.

Just a short hike from the caves, you’ll find crater lakes like Lake Kigere, whose footprint-like shape adds a mystical touch to the landscape. The views from Nyakasura hills are breathtaking, especially at sunset.

Day 2:  Transfer to Kasese-queen Elizabeth national park for an early morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Start your day with a thrilling game drive through the savannah plains of Kasese. While sightings of the Big Five (Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Leopard—BRELL) aren’t guaranteed, the park is teeming with wildlife including warthogs, antelopes, and hyenas. The solitary nature of some animals and vehicle limitations may affect visibility, but the experience is always rich in surprises.

You can also visit the Katwe salt mines, where locals still harvest salt using traditional methods. It’s a fascinating cultural stop that offers insight into centuries-old practices and the economic lifeline of the region.

Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel- largest hippo concentration

The Kazinga Channel is a 32-kilometer stretch of water linking Lake Edward and Lake George, and it boasts the highest concentration of hippos in the world. Your cruise with a UWA boat where you have many chances of spotting different wildlife like, Herds of elephants and buffaloes cooling off at the banks, Nile monitor lizards basking and breeding near the water, A dazzling array of bird species, from African fish eagles to kingfishers hunting for fish, Waterbucks and crocodiles lurking in the reeds.
