Detailed Safari Itinerary: Rwanda & Uganda (6 Days / 5 Nights)

Day 1 – Arrival & Relaxation in Kigali.

You will have Evening arrival in Kigali, Rwanda.  Check-in at M Hotel Kigali for your overnight. Refresh after travel. Very Optional: Enjoy rooftop views, spa, or dinner at the hotel restaurant. Light stroll or unwind at the pool.

 Day 2 – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP + Night Game Drive

Early in the morning-Depart Kigali and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda approximately 6–7 hours drive with scenic views and border crossing.

You will have an Evening Night game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP to enjoy what the park has for night as you hunt for nocturnal wildlife like lions, hyenas, and bush babies.

Accommodation: Buffalo Safari Lodge near the park where you have elephants that habitually visit your lodge

 Day 3 – Morning Game Drive + Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale

After your early morning breakfast, you will have a Sunrise game drive in Queen Elizabeth NP. Look for elephants, buffaloes, and tree-climbing lions.

And later Midday Transfer as you drive to Kibale National Park a primate capital of Africa (approx. 3–4 hours) for an afternoon Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. Guided walk-through rainforest to observe chimps in their natural habitat.

Accommodation: Over night at Kibale Forest Lodge.

Day 4 – Transfer to Bwindi (Rushaga Sector)

Early morning drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Rushaga sector (approx. 5–6 hours). On arrival have an afternoon relaxation at the lodge and prepare for gorilla trekking. Enjoy forest views and a quiet evening

Accommodation: Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

Day 5 – Gorilla Trekking + Return to Kigali

 Gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Trek through dense forest to encounter endangered mountain gorillas. This activity takes about 2–6 hours depending on gorilla location.

In the Afternoon- return drive to Kigali (approx. 6–7 hours).

Accommodation: M Hotel Kigali.

 Day 6 – Departure to Kilimanjaro

Early Morning Preparation for departure is done as you relax for a night flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at 3:40 AM.

Travel Tips

  • Documents: Carry your passport, yellow fever certificate, and gorilla/chimp permits.
  • Gear: Hiking boots, rain jacket, insect repellent, and binoculars.
  • Currency: Rwandan Franc (RWF) & Ugandan Shilling (UGX); USD accepted in many places.
