Frequently Asked Questions

Booking your safari

Can you customise an itinerary for me?

Yes. Every itinerary can be changed to suit your dates, budget and interests. Send us an enquiry and we will build it around you.

Are you a licensed operator?

Yes. We are licensed with the Uganda Tourism Board and based in Kisoro, Uganda.

Which countries do you cover?

We run safaris in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and DR Congo, and we can combine countries in one trip.

How do I book?

Send an enquiry or message us on WhatsApp. We reply with a proposed itinerary and price.

Gorilla trekking

Where can I track mountain gorillas?

We run gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga national parks in Uganda, and in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

How long does gorilla tracking take?

Plan for a full morning at least. A trek can take from about two hours to most of the day, depending on where the gorilla family is. Once you find them, you spend one hour with them.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. Visitors must be at least 15 years old to track gorillas.

Do I need a permit?

Yes, every visitor needs a gorilla permit for the date of the trek. Permits are limited, so book early. We can arrange yours when you book your safari.

When is the best time to go?

Gorillas can be tracked all year. The drier months, June to September and December to February, usually make the trails easier to walk.

Chimpanzee tracking

Where can I track chimpanzees?

Our main chimpanzee tracking areas are Kibale Forest in Uganda and Nyungwe Forest in Rwanda.

How fit do I need to be?

You need to be comfortable walking for a few hours on forest trails. The pace depends on how far the chimpanzees move that day.

Can I combine chimpanzees and gorillas?

Yes. Many of our Uganda and Rwanda itineraries include both. Ask us and we will match a route to your dates.

Game drives

Where do your game drives take place?

Popular choices include Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo in Uganda, Akagera in Rwanda, and the Maasai Mara in Kenya.

What time do game drives start?

Most start early in the morning, when animals are most active. Many itineraries also include a late afternoon drive.

Can I add a game drive to a gorilla safari?

Yes. Combining forest primates with savannah wildlife is a popular way to see both.

Cultural encounters

What cultural experiences do you offer?

Options include community visits around Kisoro, Runonko bushland experiences and village walks in Rwanda.

Can cultural visits be added to any safari?

Yes. They fit well between park days, and we can tailor one to your route.
