Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Pickup at Kigali International Airport or your hotel.
Do a short city tour, visit Kigali Genocide Memorial: A sobering and essential visit to understand Rwanda’s history. Local Craft Markets & Art Galleries very Great for souvenirs and cultural immersion.
Scenic Drive to Volcanoes National Park (approx. 2–3 hours), Enjoy the rolling hills and rural landscapes of northern Rwanda.
Check-in at your lodge (options range from budget to luxury like Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel).
Dinner & Overnight Stay surrounded by the Virunga volcanoes.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Iby’iwacu Cultural Village/Gorilla Guardian
You will have early Morning- Gorilla Trekking briefing at Kinigi Park HQ. Trek through misty rainforest to meet one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend up to one hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
In the afternoon you will encounter authentic cultural insight about the community at Gorilla guardian visit -the former Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. Engage with local traditions, music, dance, and storytelling. Learn about Rwandan customs and community life through interactive experiences.
Have an evening relaxation at the lodge, share stories, and enjoy local cuisine.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Trail Hike → Kigali Departure
Embark on a hike to the Dian Fossey tomb, where the renowned primatologist rests alongside her beloved gorilla companion, Digit. Along the trail, learn about her groundbreaking conservation work and the legacy she left behind. Meet reformed poachers who now share their stories of transformation, symbolizing Rwanda’s commitment to wildlife protection.
