Itinerary Overview:
At 3:30 AM – Departure from Kigali, Rwanda Begin your journey with an early morning drive from Kigali, crossing into Uganda via either the Katuna or Chanika land border. Enjoy scenic views of the Virunga ranges and the lush countryside as you head toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
At 7:00 AM – Arrival & Briefing at Bwindi Park Headquarters Arrive at the park for registration and a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Be welcomed by vibrant cultural entertainment from local women—an uplifting start to your adventure.
Gorilla Trekking Begins after the briefing, meet your ranger guide and begin the trek into the dense rainforest. The trek may take 1–4 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park-a home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas the rest being in Volcanoes national park. Offers multiple tracking sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo). Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: Smaller but scenic, with one habituated gorilla group. Having a glimpse with gentle giants is a once-in-lifetime experience
Only 1 Hour with the Gorillas is allowed Once you locate the gorillas, spend a full hour observing them in their natural habitat—watching their movements, interactions, and expressions. It’s an awe-inspiring and humbling experience.
Return Trek & Drive Back to Kigali After your time with the gorillas, trek back to the starting point and begin your return journey to Kigali. Expect to arrive around 5:00–6:00 PM, carrying unforgettable memories of your encounter with Uganda’s gentle giants.
